Welcome to my website -- I am Dr. Frank Lipman, MD, the founder and director of the Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in New York City. I practice integrative medicine by combining the best of the many alternative practices I have studied with Western medicine (click here to learn more about me).
Lipman World is an innovative and unique health-style website. While the focus of the site is to educate and provide you with new, easy and effective ways to stay healthy, the articles are not limited to traditional ideas of what constitutes health. Of course, I believe that everyone needs to eat well and exercise, but I also believe that health comes from having a dynamic and fulfilling life. Because of this wholistic viewpoint, Lipman World features numerous articles on many different health issues.
You'll find fresh and helpful information on new approaches for identifying and taking the right nutritional supplements, healthy recipes, yoga postures and exercise tips. You will also read about exciting subjects that will inspire you to address other kinds of health concerns, including environmental issues and what you can do about them, rituals for different occasions or seasons, altruism and activism. My interviews with fascinating people cover a wide range of topics from spiritualism to popular music.
As I am a world music freak, there are also current reviews of some of my favorite world music cd's and DVD's on the site, which may introduce you to some exceptional artists.
There is a lot to offer at Lipman World, so please stay, read, learn and enjoy!

New Articles Added to Lipman World (Added March 21, 2007):
- Fruits and Vegetables Are Losing Nutrients
According to a recent study, levels of a number of nutrients in our fruits and vegetables have significantly decreased since the 1950's. Located under "Food>Fruits & Vegetables"
- Why I Recommend the Greens Mix So Highly
Many experts believe that the current American diet has already led to increased incidents of nutrient deficiencies, obesity, and chronic diseases. At the same time, research supporting a critical role for fruits and vegetables in good health grows stronger all the time, probably because they are loaded with phytonutrients. Located under "Supplements>Greens"
- Five Constitutional Types in Chinese Medicine
In Chinese medical thinking, we are all regarded individually, with unique personal needs and styles. In this system of thought, people are seen as microcosms of nature, an ecosystem in miniature. Just as what is needed in the desert is different than what is desirable in the jungle, or what is useful in the arctic is undesirable at the equator, so we people can be grouped within climatic zones and map our own microclimates. - Sidestepper - 3am: In Beats We Trust
True to its intention to bring the finest contemporary World Music to fans around the world, Chris Blackwell's Palm Pictures label has excelled itself with the release of the latest Sidestepper album, '3am: In Beats We Trust'. Located under "World Music"

What is Ubuntu?
|
Ubuntu, a South African concept I embrace, is a word that encompasses the ideas of compassion and community. It is the belief in a universal bond of sharing that unites all of humanity-- the conviction that no person can be truly full while his neighbor remains hungry. Ubuntu represents a world-view that sees humanity as a web of family, rather than a mass of individuals.

Ubuntu Annual Benefit
|
| On June 6th, Ubuntu Education Fund hosted our first annual benefit at New York City's Puck Building, which had been transformed into a lush African Bush for the evening's festivities (see photos below). Nobel Peace Prize winner and Ubuntu Patron Archbishop Desmond Tutu was the keynote speaker. The event was emceed by Kevin Bacon and featured Angelique Kidjo, the Grammy nominated singer from Benin and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, whose richly diverse music had the entire room on their feet by the end of the evening -- including the Archbishop.
